Thigh Reduction
Thigh reduction surgery is also known as thigh surgery, or a thigh lift. Patients who undergo this surgery do so for a variety of reasons; some have fat they need to shift from the inner thighs, and others have loose skin as well as fat deposits.
Thigh reduction eliminates loose skin and fat deposits, for enhanced contours of the lower body
Thigh reduction surgery refers to a reduction of the inner thigh. There are different reasons to consider a thigh reduction: for some it is just stubborn fat that needs to be shifted, and for others it could be fat deposits combined with loose skin. Many patients consider this surgery following significant weight loss.
After consultation your surgeon may elect to perform liposuction on its own, often in conjunction with liposuction of other areas such as the hips and abdomen. This is only possible for candidates with good skin tone, which can be assessed by the surgeon during your initial consultation.
For every step of your plastic surgery
journey, we are by your side.
Bendigo Plastic Surgery follows a simple tried-and-tested process for our surgical procedures. From initial consultation, to recovery and beyond, our team will look after you.
1
Before surgery
At your initial consultation the surgeon will ask about your specific cosmetic goals, and will discuss the improvements that are realistically possible. Your thighs will be examined for the location of fat deposits, and for the quality of skin tone.
Your surgeon will discuss the site and length of scars and other risks of surgery.
Before undergoing surgery it is important to be as fit as possible, to stop smoking at least six weeks prior to and after surgery, set up a good support system at home and avoid medications like aspirin and fish oil.
2
During surgery
All thigh reduction surgeries are performed in hospital under a general anaesthetic. Your surgeon may elect to perform liposuction alone, but may also recommend skin and fat excision of the tissues are too loose.
The scars from thigh reduction surgery can be placed in the groin and buttock crease, to be concealed by underwear. In severe cases, a long vertical scar is required, running for much of the length of the inner thigh. Dressings will be applied to the incisions.
3
After surgery
You can expect to stay in hospital at least one night and you will require regular simple pain medication.
All patients will have some bruising and swelling after surgery, and your surgeon will provide detailed instructions for the days and weeks of recovery. This will include information about early showering, simple tape dressings and supportive garments. It is essential to wear a supportive elastic garment for at least 6 - 8 weeks.
Depending on the extent of your procedure, you may need to take at least four weeks off work. A gradual return to driving, lifting, exercise, and sport will be advised, after this time.
