Skin Cancer Repair

Our surgeon performs skin cancer surgery in complex or specialised sites, in particular the face, neck and hands. It’s important to entrust your reconstruction to a plastic surgery specialist with extensive training, experience and skill.

Skin cancer surgery for specialised areas including the face, neck and hands

Our surgeon performs skin cancer surgery in complex sites which require a certain level of skill and finesse to repair. With years of expertise in reconstruction, the surgery outcomes ensure a normal appearance and well-hidden scars. Many of these procedures are complex, requiring flap repairs or skin grafting.

Melanoma is treated in all sites, as a priority. Patients are referred from dermatologists, GPs and skin cancer clinics. Some patients referred for radiotherapy will best be treated by plastic surgery, and in more complex situations combined surgery and radiotherapy may be required. We will always take a collaborative approach to your treatment.

Please note that our surgeon does not perform skin checks. Cancer preventative treatments and skin checks can be arranged with the Spot On Clinic in Bendigo, as part of your comprehensive ongoing care.

For every step of your plastic surgery
journey, we are by your side.

Bendigo Plastic Surgery follows a simple tried-and-tested process for our surgical procedures. From initial consultation, to recovery and beyond, our team will look after you.

1

Before surgery

Your initial appointment will be a consultation only, to allow planning and preparation for a procedure that will mostly be performed as a day surgery. More complex cases may necessitate an overnight stay in hospital, and this will be discussed at your appointment.

2

During surgery

Many skin cancer repair surgeries are performed under a general anaesthetic, while others are quite easily done with a local or regional anaesthesia. Simple procedures may be performed under local anaesthetic in our clinics, though most children under 14 years will not be done with local anaesthetic.

3

After surgery

All skin cancer surgeries will be followed up with pathology tests, and we will arrange a follow-up appointment to discuss your results. Your referring doctor will be kept well-informed, to ensure that they are aware of the outcome of pathology.
